Rainbow Steps Preschool Page 8 Parent Handbook meet the needs of every child, or when a child’s continued inappropriate behavior disrupts the program or threatens the safety and well-being of others, we may ask that a child be withdrawn from our program. This is a difficult decision and it will not be done without discussion between teachers, administrators, and sometimes professional consultants. If you have a question or concern regarding child guidance, discipline or any other matter and need assistance to resolve the issue, please call and make an appointment with your child’s teachers and an administrator. Employees needing assistance resolving problems or concerns should see the administrator. Employees, parents and administrators will work together to resolve any issues or concerns. Parent Involvement and Classroom Visitation Any parent, custodian, or guardian of a child enrolled in the facility shall be permitted unlimited access to the facility during hours of operation for the purpose of contacting their children, evaluating the care provided by the facility or evaluating the premises. Parents are welcome to visit at any time. Upon entering the premises, the parent or guardian will notify the office and an administrator of his/her presence. In some cases, a custodial parent may request that a non-custodial parent be denied access to the facility. In order for us to comply with this request, copies of a legal custody document must be on file in the office. Newsletters You will receive a monthly newsletter from your child’s teacher highlighting the activities and happenings in your child’s classroom. A general newsletter will update you on information and events that involve the school. Parent/Teacher Conferences Conferences will be formally scheduled in the fall and spring. Teachers observe and evaluate children’s progress using informal screening techniques and anecdotal records. Formal test assessments are not done and no information or child level data is reported to ODJFS. Should a need for a conference between parents and teachers develop at other times, this can be done by telephone or by a personal conference before or after school. We will be pleased to schedule a time to meet with you whenever a question, problem or concern arises. Child-Parent-Teacher Times Opportunities to bring children, parents, teachers, and families together are provided during the year. These include events such as Playground Open House Party, Holiday Programs, Dad’s Night, Mother’s Day Tea and other special gatherings. Rosters Parents will be provided with a roster of the names and telephone numbers of the parents/guardians of the children enrolled in their child’s class. Rosters of the names and telephone numbers of the parents or guardians of the children attending the facility are available upon request. The parent roster will not include the name or telephone number of any parent who requests that his/her name or telephone number not be included.
