Orientation Before your child starts at Rainbow Steps, you will receive a packet of information including the Parent Handbook, school calendar, tuition information and other information relating to Rainbow Steps. Included in the summer packet will be the dates for the New Family Parent Meeting (optional for returning families) and the Popsicle Party Open House for children and their parents. These are important times for parents and children to meet the teachers, other children, and to receive additional class specific information. Class Times and Ratios At Rainbow Steps, we strive to provide individualized attention to your child. We do this by having two teachers in the classroom, keeping a low teacher-to-child ratio. 3 Day Classes Open to children 3 years old by August 1 and toilet trained Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00-11:30 am or 12:30-3:00 pm Teacher/child ratio 1:9 Maximum class size: 18 (State Maximum ratio: 1:12) 4 Day Classes (Pre-K) Open to children 4 years old by August 1 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00-11:30 am or 12:30-3:00 pm Teacher/child ratio 1:9 Maximum class size: 18 (State Maximum ratio: 1:14) Pre-K Plus Class Open to children 5 years old by August 1 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00-11:30 am Teacher/child ratio 1:18 If class size exceeds 18, two teachers are in the classroom. (State Maximum ratio: 1:18) Daily Schedule and Activities A typical day session will include circle time, center/choice time, snack time, story time, and a time for large motor activities; either on the playground or in our large activity room. Teachers carefully plan for experiences at all times during the day to help the children learn and develop readiness skills.
